While we're all busy obsessing over the reign of Donald J. Trump, important things happen, like Kendall Jenner deleting her Instagram account. Now, let me tell you why this is news. First of all, September Vogue declared her the face that launched a billion likes. That's right. A billion. That was her selling point a mere two months ago. How times have changed. With so much bitterness pervading the atmosphere, she probably just needed a break from the world's most dire addiction - social media. If the first thing you do when you wake up and the last thing you do before you go to bed is check your Instagram, you probably do too.

Should we be worried? Will she disappear off the face of the earth? Must we now discredit Vogue? No, no, and never. However, we can take her example and maybe detox a little ourselves. In an interview with Ellen Degeneres, Kendall said something quite interesting about her life-changing decision. She told her that she finally had the chance to engage in real life. As much as we all love to indulge in the latest news stories like the much-anticipated Gilmore Girls revival, the Super Moon, and Melania's resting bitch face, sometimes it's important to just live our own lives for a moment. Maybe we'll actually get to read all the books Rory has read or watch the Super Moon from our bedroom window. Maybe we'll forget about Melania for just a minute and refrain from oversharing our opinions about her face. Or maybe not.

The real question I know you're all asking yourselves is: why does this even matter? Why is this a CNN-worthy event? Well maybe it's because we all desperately needed something a little silly to get our mind off the frightening things that are happening in the world. Yes, politics matter. But every once in a while, we just want to hear about a Kardashian breaking the Internet again. Is that really so bad?

Taking A Break From Fashion Month To Discuss #OscarsSoWhite

Before you read this, I have to confess. This is actually a best-dressed list disguised as an argumentative essay about the predominantly white Oscar nominations this year. So I apologize in advance if that's what you were expecting. Perhaps the very fact that this best-dressed list is slightly too white might make us all think about the current issue plaguing the mind's of Hollywood's elite. I invite you to think about that as you take a look at this best-dressed list. Full disclosure, the choices are entirely based on the dresses, not my opinion of the women wearing them. In my book, every woman on that Red Carpet deserves to be honoured and admired for her work and the dress is merely a matter of taste, that differs from one critic to another. After several hours of watching Mad Max win awards, let's analyze and criticize the most frivolous, yet integral, part of the show: what everyone was wearing (or maybe just my top 10 best).

NUMBER 10

Mindy Kaling in Elizabeth Kennedy

I am a huge fan of Mindy Kaling for a number of reasons. One of them happens to be her classy sense of style. While Mindy has made a few strange Red Carpet choices, this one was simple and yet, also one of the best. The cut was flattering and the surprise at the back gave it a touch of glamour, making it Oscar-ready. Let's not forget to mention, her beauty look is beyond chic.

While this look could have potentially landed much higher on my best-dressed list, it remained slightly safe and a tad too predictable for my taste. Regardless, Jen looked bombshell stunning in black with just the right amount of sparkle to stand out on the Red Carpet.

Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive

Cate Blanchett always wears Armani Prive and this year is no different. She has never made my best-dressed list though. Until now. Generally, this actress loves to make a statement on the carpet and while I'm usually a huge fan of bold statement-makers, hers never quite succeed at giving me the fuzzy feels that other dresses do. This year, I couldn't decide if I loved or hated this aqua dress. Part of me felt as though I were looking at a sea creature. The other part just wanted to touch it. It's the type of dress you might see in a fairytale and that is exactly what I loved about it.

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior

Charlize Theron is probably the only actress who can actually say she ALWAYS wears the dress (the dress never wears her) because no dress can upstage someone that beautiful. Whether this simple Dior number with a stunning deep V and a necklace that could blind the blind or something as elaborate as Cate Blanchett's dress, nothing can take away from Charlize Theron's modelesque figure and natural beauty. I'm pretty sure Emily Blunt wanted to kill the Academy for forcing them to present together.

This sparkling emerald green custom Calvin Klein dress shone as bright as Saoirse's pride in her Irish heritage. Nothing says best-dressed like a look that came straight from the heart. Not only did she look stunning, but you could tell she felt it too. That is precisely was got her in my top five.

Olivia Munn in Stella McCartney

This dress may have been very simple, but as far as red dresses go (sorry, Charlize), but this one was definitely my fave. It was flattering, eye-catching, and striking against Olivia Munn's beautiful black hair. If I had to pick an Oscar dress, this would be the top choice on my list. The real question is: was it orange or red? I'll allow you to ponder that one.

Naomi Watts, a constant contender on my best-dressed list, has blown me away once again with her Oscar choice. Like Cate Blanchett, this outfit was fit for an aquatic wonderland, but Naomi was the mermaid and Cate was a sea urchin (no offence to Cate intended). It was a cross between Saoirse's and Cate's dress, only better because it has ombre. I'm in love.

Flats On The Red Carpet: A Do Or A Don't?

Back in the day, the Red Carpet was reserved for Elie Saab gowns and occasionally a Dior jumpsuit (if you're as cool as Emma Watson). While a few have played around with the rules, there is one that seems slightly less flexible.

Can one wear flats on the Red Carpet?

Obviously, we live in a world of progress. Pants are now permitted on and off the carpet. Gay marriage was legalized. Parisians are wearing sneakers. The world is clearly a'changing.

But flats on the Red Carpet? Meh.

It's commonly accepted that after hours of standing in heels, your feet will hurt. If you're Jennifer Lawrence, you may trip on yourself. Twice. Or was it three times? I've lost track. If you're Emma Thompson, you've already said "to hell with it" and discarded your heels in a moment of frustration in front of an audience of A-listers. However, those are the exceptions. Most women will never dare walk a Red Carpet event in anything but their classiest pair of shoes. Whether they are wearing a floor-length gown that hides them or even a tuxedo Diane Keaton style, high heels are always a MUST.

But what if they weren't?
What if someone decided to break the rules?

Sure, heels elongate your legs and make them look 10 miles longer, but what of comfort? What of elegant flats that don't deter from the centerpiece that is your dress? Could this possibly be an underrated concept?

Fashion is about crossing boundaries. It's about inspiring people to change their mind about something they once deemed unacceptable. It's about shortening hems, removing the corsets, and allowing women to move with ease. And isn't that the purpose of flats? Fluidity of movement? Are flats a stepping stone in the feminist debate?

Is Rainbow Hair The New Ombre?

While Ombre may have been the popular choice a year ago, celebrities have recently opted for something a little more dramatic and unconventional. From Nicole Richie's lilac pixie cut to Hilary Duff's recent green locks, there are a wide array of colours to choose from that weren't on the hair colour spectrum before.

While colouring your hair an unnatural hue was once seen as an act of rebellion, it seems to be attracting some pretty conventional pop stars in Hollywood. Hilary Duff, Katy Perry, and Rihanna are amongst the most popular to have tried this trend that has inspired us all to think brown is even more drab than ever before.

Gone are the days of blonds having more fun and brunettes doing it better. You thought redheads were special? When you have the entire rainbow to choose from, red pales in comparison.

So far, it continues to be associated with the punk movement and since the 90s are in the midst of a comeback, we may see more rock n' roll hair to go along with the clothes.

Taylor Swift aka Taytay aka The New Victoria Secret Angel aka Karlie's BFF

Whatever you want to call her, it was only a matter of time before she made the cut in Icon City. After appearing on stage at TWO Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows, maintaining her top-of-the-chart status (and always looking good doing it), and writing every teenage girls' anthem time and time again, Taylor has officially reached icon status. Some may hate her and others may bow, but Taylor has proven herself as queen of pop/country (whatever she's singing these days) and deserves this spot. After all, Karlie would be lonely without her.

The KardashaJenner Disease

Apparently, everyone has caught the bug and I'm not quite sure who started it. I'm thinking it was a sex tape, but that's just my hypothesis.

If you haven't been keeping up with the Kardashajenners, that's okay. Neither have I.

The only Kardashajenner that has caught my eye is Kendall, simply because she's prancing down those #NYFW runways like its nobody's business.

Is she a good model? Perhaps. Did she work her way up? Probably not. She does happen to be the most successful Kardashian of the bunch though, so kudos to her.

Is her name what got her famous? Probably.

But frankly, who cares? She's walking DVF, Tommy Hilfiger, and Donna Karan runways and laughing at us all while sipping cocktails with the designers themselves backstage.

Now here's the question of the day: why is everyone so obsessed with these darn Kardashians? Or better yet, how did they manage to cover every US Weekly and InTouch in sight? What's the deal, yo?

There are plenty of women with booty in the business who happen to have some talent to speak of (J.Lo) Sorry, Kim. Kanye makes you popular.

Kourtney's on the sidelines, which probably categorizes her as smartest Kardashajenner of the bunch. She also gets points for having a really cute kid.

Meanwhile, where's Khloe? I wouldn't know. I don't keep up.

Kylie is the underrated Jenner sister who probably leads the best life since she's least likely to be recognized on the street. Maybe she's just too cool for Kardashian. Her style is pretty awesome and she's a little edgier than Kendall, but unfortunately, she hasn't made it as big and that makes things a little awkward.

So, here's a question that's been plaguing all of our minds for every year Kardashian has been part of our vocabulary: what's up with all those K's? Is that how they got famous? Should I give all my children names that start with B? Is that the key to fame? Is that how I should choose my man?

Fashion Week has just begun and Kendall is the talk of the town. Perhaps if she weren't a Kardashajenner, I may have liked her more as a model. Maybe that makes me judgemental, but in the end, who isn't judgmental when it comes to these ladies? Or maybe I'm being too hash?

#IconCity: I'm Simply Obsessed with Kerry Washington

This week, the Emmy's were on (on a Monday night, no less) and somehow, I survived the entire show without falling asleep. Despite the valiant efforts of Seth Meyers, some jokes just didn't translate into laughs and the evening continued to drag on. For celebrities, it's a lovely event as well as an occasion to get all dressed up and hope for a win. For us common folk, it's just background noise while we compulsively check our social media combined with a bit of FOMO.

Anyway, one of my favourite parts about these awards shows is the Red Carpet (if you hadn't already figured that one out). One of the standouts at every event is Kerry Washington. Not only is she beautiful, but she is ALWAYS best-dressed. Everything she wears looks like it was custom made for her (and this time, it actually was) and she's consistently a stand-out. Watching her walk the Red Carpet makes me want to check out Scandal for more of a glimpse at her style. With a repertoire of films, I definitely have a lot of catching up to do. For now, let us just marvel as some of her best looks.

You wish you looked this good in white. Wearing a classy Cushnie et Ochs suit with a slight peplum, Kerry looks enviably amazing. Let's not forget to mention her pop of colour with those red Brian Atwood pumps and that standout Kate Spade New York clutch. I'm dying for this.

Only a girl with serious style savvy could pull off this high-low dress in electric orange. As soon as I saw this Michael Kors look on the runway, I knew that only a true diva could wear it and own it. Kerry wears it beautifully and with a stunning bun that we're all fantasizing about.

#EMMY'S 2014: Another Best-Dressed List

For the first time since 1976, the Emmys were held on a Monday night and the world was in an uproar.

Just kidding.

Nobody had anything better to do last night than sit back, relax, and watch Seth Meyers' make awkward puns about all the celebrity presenters. It was a night filled with awkward comedy (Weird Al Yankovic) and a few tears were shed when Billy Crystal paid tribute to Robin Williams. Other than that, most of the evening was fairly dull with a few wisecracks and inside jokes only an elite group of celebrities would understand.

Now, let's get to the main event: The Best-Dressed List.

Since I haven't made one of these in a while, I am very excited to share my choices with you. This was a difficult list to make as many celebrities were well-dressed on the carpet this year (much to our utter surprise). The stylists clearly know their clients and that definitely made it slightly more worth our watch.

NUMBER 10

Taylor Schilling in Zuhair Murad

As soon as this Orange Is The New Black star hit the Red Carpet, her sleek gold number stood out. Sexy, yet tasteful, this look could not go wrong. After all, everyone loves a little shine on the Red Carpet. It may not have been orange, but I get the feeling she's just sick of the colour.

Halle Berry in Elie Saab

I did not spot Halle's dress until she got on stage to present an award and needless to say, I was very impressed with the choice. The soft dusty pink complimented her skin perfectly and the thigh high slit is always a crowd pleaser.

It wouldn't be an awards night without a Zac Posen dress gracing the Red Carpet. Of course, Heidi Klum was the perfect candidate for the part. This classy coral number made her skin glow and accentuated those enviable blond locks.

Yet another Elie Saab dress makes the best-dressed list. Maybe I have a soft spot for the designer or maybe Julia Roberts looked too stunning not to make the list. Choosing a short dress was definitely a risk for the Emmys, but Julia pulled it off with ease. With a perfect V and an adorable ruffled skirt, she stood out from the crowd.

There's something about this dress that was just right. Perhaps the flowing white fabric or the intricate floral appliqués at the top. Maybe white just projects an angelic vibe like no other colour. Whatever the reason, I really loved Kate Mara's dress last night.

This dress was that jaw-dropping kind that everyone was talking about the moment, Masters of Sex star, Lizzy Caplan, hit the Red Carpet. Classy in the front and party in the back, Lizzy was the envy of everyone in the room. She's come a long way from her days as fierce Mean Girls character, Janice Ian.

Stylist or no stylist, nobody looks cooler than Lily Collins (red carpet or no red carpet). Everything this girl wears is something I wish I had in my wardrobe. The girl who starred in Mirror, Mirror and The Mortal Instruments looks edgier than ever no matter what she's wearing. Known for her killer brows (ones I believe were present BEFORE Cara's made it a trend), this celebrity's face is a statement in itself. She may have snuck her way into IconCity due to her famous father (Phil Collins), but nobody deserves to be there more than she does. In my imagination, she and Shenae Grimes are sipping cocktails at the bar while commenting on their next big film collaboration plans (one can only wish).
