The Face That Launched A Billion Likes Deleted Her Instagram

While we're all busy obsessing over the reign of Donald J. Trump, important things happen, like Kendall Jenner deleting her Instagram account. Now, let me tell you why this is news. First of all, September Vogue declared her the face that launched a billion likes. That's right. A billion. That was her selling point a mere two months ago. How times have changed. With so much bitterness pervading the atmosphere, she probably just needed a break from the world's most dire addiction - social media. If the first thing you do when you wake up and the last thing you do before you go to bed is check your Instagram, you probably do too.

Should we be worried? Will she disappear off the face of the earth? Must we now discredit Vogue? No, no, and never. However, we can take her example and maybe detox a little ourselves. In an interview with Ellen Degeneres, Kendall said something quite interesting about her life-changing decision. She told her that she finally had the chance to engage in real life. As much as we all love to indulge in the latest news stories like the much-anticipated Gilmore Girls revival, the Super Moon, and Melania's resting bitch face, sometimes it's important to just live our own lives for a moment. Maybe we'll actually get to read all the books Rory has read or watch the Super Moon from our bedroom window. Maybe we'll forget about Melania for just a minute and refrain from oversharing our opinions about her face. Or maybe not.

The real question I know you're all asking yourselves is: why does this even matter? Why is this a CNN-worthy event? Well maybe it's because we all desperately needed something a little silly to get our mind off the frightening things that are happening in the world. Yes, politics matter. But every once in a while, we just want to hear about a Kardashian breaking the Internet again. Is that really so bad?

Ponder that,

BIG NEWS: Kristen Stewart Cut Her Hair

Kristen Stewart chopped off all her hair and joined the ranks of Charlize Theron, Queen Bey, and J. Law. WHOOPI!

Somehow, this made the news.

There are only two possible reasons for this:

1) She is Karl Lagerfeld's choochoo (see here)
2) There wasn't much news going on yesterday.

via usmagazine.com
Kristen presented her "new look" at the Chanel Couture show, shocking onlookers. A few months ago, she died her hair a fiery shade of red and everyone was in shock. However, since strange hair colours were the trend of the moment, nobody really cared all that much.

Suddenly, she cut off all her hair because like a true celebrity, it doesn't take long for her to get bored of her look and the infinite access to hair stylists makes it as easy as brushing your teeth.

Some are calling her new waves retro. I'm not quite sure I concur, but I suppose the current retro movement has us all confused.

Perhaps I have a slight bias against K. Stew though. All things considered, I think she pulls it off. Whether she's still acting out after her breakup with Robert Pattinson or just sick of twiddling those thumbs now that the Twilight saga is over, we'll probably never know. Whichever it is, she is not ready to be forgotten.

What do you think of her new look? Is it totally edgy and avant-garde? Is it a sign that she's making her way to ICON STATUS? Was this Karl Lagerfeld's doing?

Taking A Break From Fashion To Talk About Passover Finals (Sort Of)

With finals rapidly creeping up on us and the holidays coinciding with that last dreadful month of school, fashion tends to take a backseat, for some people. It's Coachella 2014, but I'm sitting at a computer typing a paper and contemplating the lack of bread in my life in the days that will follow. Alexander Wang is collaborating with H&M, but I can't even dwell on that piece of news because I'm too busy trying to fix my haywire printer (which happens to have a mind of its own) and thinking about how I'm going to get everything done before holiday dinner. The MTV Movie Awards are happening, but best-dressed lists are being replaced by a seriously long to do list that comprises all the tasks that need to be completed in the next 24 hours.

I just took a breath.

The truth is, fashion is ALWAYS on my mind, even if it happens to be in the teeny tiniest way. I can't help wondering what everyone's wearing at Coachella and what it would be like to be there right now instead of the confines of my bedroom. I'm dying to check out Alex Wang for H&M because he's one of those designers that exudes cool vibes. And as for the MTV Movie Awards, Twitter provides me with all the information I need as I take ten minute breaks between paragraph editing.

The art of multi-tasking creates the balance needed to lead a fulfilling existence that prevents depressive behaviours. So, in this dire time, I encourage you to contemplate your holiday outfits, think about what you'll be wearing to school tomorrow, stay involved with Coachella updates, get mentally excited about Alex Wang to stimulate your writing capabilities, and perhaps check out the red carpet hits and misses  tomorrow. It may be exam season, but it's important to remember that fashion keeps us sane (or maybe that's just me).

Good luck on your exams. Happy Passover and Happy Easter. Keep calm and get excited. It's a festive time. Let's indulge.

BIG NEWS: Gwen Stefani is BACK

Refusing to hide under her pregnancy rock, Gwen Stefani has been hibernating for a reason (and it's not the baby in her belly). Get ready. This information is about to blow your mind.

via fashionista.com
She's so cool. Don't you want to be her?
A new collection, Design with Purpose, is in the works for Stefani, the woman who never presses pause. A fashion icon and musical talent, it was only a matter of time before we discovered what she's had up her sleeve. If you thought L.A.M.B was "the shit", you'll be tugging at your leather jacket sleeves, anxiously awaiting this one to hit the racks.

Teaming up with Michael Glasser, denim guru who launched 7 for All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, and Rich and Skinny, Stefani's line is bound to be revolutionary, especially since it won't have any denim (WHAT?).

According to Fashionista.com, "the goal of DWP is to 'take the pressure off denim'" and "the focus of the line is of a slouchy, cropped, tapered pant". In other words, it's time to put those jeans to rest and opt for something a little edgier. Though this new line will resemble denim, it will be more like denim's hot older cousin. Including an array of tees and motorcycle vests, we're all headed towards a place that's a little more rock n' roll.

Eager to explore this collection? It's scheduled to hit stores in Spring 2014, so stay tuned!
Are you ready for this, ladies?
