Happy Golden Globes Sunday guys!
I begin in this fashion (no pun intended) because I've been so busy watching the Golden Globes that I've delayed blogging up until this point and I needed you all to know that. Apology accepted. The truth is, if you read my blog, you were probably WAY too preoccupied with the Golden Globes yourselves. Or the Red Carpet (the only part that REALLY matters). So, stay tuned tomorrow for my own personal best-dressed list (as per tradition). It's going to be RAD.
On another note, I'd like to take a moment to marvel at the best work of literature I've ever read in the span of 3 hours as well as the best 29 bucks I've ever spent. The Man Repeller's new book. Other than discovering that Leandra Medine is my spirit animal, I also dug deep into the depths of my soul only to discover that I LOVE man repelling. From baggy sweatshirts to high-waisted denim and fluffy body-wear (overalls are next on my list), I've been man repelling all my life and I've grown to embrace it due to this magnificent piece of art work. For those of you who don't know her, check out Man Repeller here.
I won't spoil it for you, but this book taught me a few valuable life lessons:
Drop-crotch pants are THE SHIT
Never take your Hermes out drinking
Aunt Flow only believes in surprise visits
Always remember to take your socks off
AND your period panties are single-purpose underwear.
Happy Reading!

Miley's So Famous, She Snagged Herself An Ad Campaign
Guess What? We can now officially caption 2013 as the year Miley Cyrus shed her good girl/child star image in exchange for some Jays on her feet and a Marc Jacobs ad campaign. Mazel Tov!Her new edgy hair cut along with her rising popularity in the fashion world due to her bold street style has transformed her into a Marc girl over the span of 6 months. Talk about a job well done (they do say it's the instant gratification generation). She may be one of the most infamous celebrities of the moment with her naked body spreading around the cyber sphere like herpes, but her icon status has skyrocketed and THAT is undeniable. You may hate her for her overexposure, her naughty image, and provocative behaviour, but the fashion world adores her.
2014 has proven that it shall be a year of controversial fashion choices from Kristen Stewart covering the Spring/Summer 2014 Chanel Ad Campaign to Lena Dunham covering February Vogue to Miley for Marc Jacobs. Disagree? Well, that's the point.

What do YOU think of Marc's decision? Is it well-deserved by Miley? Does she do him justice? Or is it too gloomy for your taste? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Ponder on that,
Bella

I Am The People And These Are My Choices
As you all know, the People's Choice Awards were on last night and consequently, I'd like to hand out some awards of my own to some of the bold fashionistas on the Red Carpet that left their mark on me.
First and foremost, to the classicist herself, in honour of the commencement of the BEST SHOW EVER, I'd like to give my first award to Allison Williams for being classically inclassic in a David Koma halter dress with a wild colour that knocks your socks off at an appropriate knee length.
I'd like to offer my second award (from myself, the people) to Nina Dobrev for Best Sparkling number a la Jenny Packham. I'd also like to award her with best breakup joke. I'd pat her on the back if I could.
My third award goes to Heidi Klum for sporting the Best Cleavage of the night. Own that Armani, girl.
And the fourth award goes to...NAYA RIVERA (because she changed her hair and everyone was all getting up in her grill on Twitter). Best blond locks, best dramatic entrance, and overall best Latina of the night. P.S She wore Michael Kors.
AND FINALLY, the White Award goes to...DRUM ROLL PLEASE!
JENNIFER HUDSON IN KAUFMANFRANCO! (Best girl in white IN THE HOUSE)
I'd also like to offer an honourable mention to Ian Somerhalder for being the most attractive man in a suit (and probably not in a suit as well).
That's all folks!
Until next year,
Bella

Lena Dunham and Vogue: Shit Just Got Real
It has officially been confirmed, ladies and gents. Lena Freaking Dunham will be covering February Vogue (Yes, that is her middle name as I know it). Let's take a moment to process how AWESOME this is.
Now, remember when I spoke about Cate Blanchett covering Vogue (view here)? Well, this is a whole new ball game. For multiple reasons, Lena Dunham is an icon who fully merits this controversial Vogue cover. I use the word "controversial" because that is unfortunately how this has been viewed. Unlike other fashion magazines, Vogue covers do not merely display celebrities and models, but fashion icons. As a brilliant young writer with balls like you've never seen before, Lena Dunham definitely deserves icon status. Though her sense of style does not generally get her on anyone's best dressed lists, she stays true to herself and that is what earns her icon status (and thankfully, she'll be dressed by a stylish for her shoot).
I think that the best part of this news is the imaginary conversations I've replayed in my mind between Anna Wintour and Lena Dunham. The scenarios are endless.
So, congratulations to Dunham (hopefully it won't just be a beauty shot) and to Anna Wintour for making a whole new statement for Vogue.
Have a lovely evening,
Bella

The Chunky Necklace Is My New Boyfriend
After several months of tasting the various flavours of jewelry, I've set my eyes upon the chunky necklace (despite my concerns that my petite frame couldn't handle it) and it was love at first sight (Or second. Whatever). We batted eyes for several weeks as I continued to delve deeper into the realm of arm candy, but I came to realize that I couldn't quite resist the "come hither" looks of that chunky necklace.
For those of you who don't know, a chunky necklace is one which commands attention. It is the centrepiece to your favourite LBD, the accent, the crowd pleaser, and a conversation starter all at once (Not that I'm saying that men are accessories, but aren't these the qualities we all search for in a man?) The best part about the chunky necklace is that you can have a wardrobe consisting entirely of basics and your accessory can make each look unique and individual as though it were brand new (cliche, but undeniable). The illusion of newness is what we all strive for in a world where we are constantly being seduced by fashion magazines and street stylers. Jewelry was a gift brought to us by the stork to refresh an expired look. Miracle? I'd say so.
I may be a delicate young lady, but I can't resist a little bling every now and then. While your outfit may say "I'm stylish", you're neck-ware says "I'm a fashionista". In this day and age, necklaces speak louder than words. Pearls invoke class and timelessness. Diamonds indicate high standards and a penchant for sparkle. Coloured crystals are for the imaginative woman with a playful attitude. Your necklace has more to say about you than you may think, so wear it well and don't be afraid to be bold. And with those final words of wisdom, I say adios.

British Invasion Is Not Just A 60's Movement, It's A Lifestyle
Ever since I could remember, I've been undeniably and unconditionally obsessed with British culture. When I was 10, all I could listen to was S Club 7, The Spice Girls, Atomic Kitten, and Blue (holler if you were fans too). Now, I listen to the Beatles, The Libertines, and The Kooks (I also spend countless inexplicable hours searching for new British Indie bands). When I was a child, I created an entire imaginary world within England as a grade 6 school project (it was clear that I was unnaturally obsessed).
I also firmly believe that British authors are the best authors. From Shakespeare to Eliot to J. K. Rowling, the Brits rule the world when it comes to literature. The entire English canon consists of the various works of British writers and upon entering a literature program, it's common knowledge that most of what you will be required to read WILL be British. Duh.
My favourite store is TopShop (for obvious reasons). Urban London is just a dream to me. Since reading Shopaholic, one of my life's ambitions is to roam the streets of London and shop at Harrods and Selfridges (even though I can't afford it). London Fashion Week is one of the most creative displays of hipster art one can imagine. From Temperley London to Sass and Bide to Burberry London, I absolutely CANNOT get enough.
My personal fashion icons happen to be British as well. Cara Delevingne has become the new Kate Moss of fashion that we have all grown to love due to her infectious personality. Her model bestie, Jourdan Dunn, is just a laugh and a half that I absolutely cannot get enough of. When she was cut from Dior's Couture show due to her large bust, I knew we were soul sisters. Oh, and the iconic Twiggy also happened to be British along with designer of the moment, Mary Quant, a fashion revolutionizer. Victoria Beckham is the queen (not only because she's married to the most attractive soccer player known to man), but also because her sense of style is IMPECCABLE and don't even get me started on her clothing line. Alexa Chung is just my favourite person. Period. And if you hadn't noticed, the woman running American Vogue, Anna Wintour, is British (in case you forgot that the Brits rule the world).
Let's not even dive into the most charming older man in film, Hugh Grant. Or Jude Law. Or Orlando Bloom. Or Ed Westwick. Or Colin Farrell (he's Irish, but I don't care).
Some of the loveliest expressions in the English language came from the Brits including bugger, bollocks, and full monty. And, how can I forget one of my personal favourites: put a sock in it.
And the accent is just the cherry on top of the cupcake. Delicious.
Toodle-oo,
Bella

Which Metal Are You: Gold Or Silver?
Hello there,
There's this unwritten rule in the fashion world that requires you to pick a team: Team Gold or Team Silver. Why? What if I can't choose? What if I want to be Switzerland? Sometimes, it's just too darn difficult to choose between the two! How can we be expected to make these kind of rash decisions when our mood swings are the real dictators? For a while, I thought I was a golden girl because I was going through a glam phase and couldn't resist the regality of it all. And suddenly, I began to crave silver (talk about an identity crisis). Maybe it was due to the punk movement that resurfaced and my growing obsession with Saint Laurent Paris. I can't quite pinpoint how this occurred, but I've found myself torn between two lovers.
As a class A fashion rule breaker, I decided to mix it up (based on my mood of course). Frankly, I believe that each of these metals has its own personality and don't even get me started on hematite. To help you figure out what team you fall under, I've concocted my own metal horoscopes. If your personality is a mix of the two, I'm proud to say that we float in the same boat. Good luck!
I may have pulled these "metalscopes" out of my ass, but that's mostly because I don't believe in rigid rules (or horoscopes for that matter). Metals are made to be mixed and assorted. If there's one rule you should take from all this, it's that one.
XOXO,
Bella

SILVER:

A silver girl has more attitude than you can handle and a powerful attraction to punk chic. You love your glitz and shine, but you remain subtle in your choices. You may not be a loud individual, but you're a classy gal with a sharp sense of wit. You like your jewelry delicate and timeless, but your outfits are dark and sophisticated. Don't mess with this bitch.
GOLD:
Nobody is more glamorous than a golden girl. You own every room you step into and can't resist a loud print or a sparkling sequin. Your open personality makes you the life of every party and you tend to make friends easily because of your daring attitude. You're on top of every jewelry trend and your favourite look is the little black dress with a whole lot of accessorizing. Nothing will stop you from being on top of the world.
