Kate Moss Was Cara Delevingne For Halloween: Let's Discuss

Our favourite model of the moment, the silly faced Cara Delevingne has officially reached the status of Halloween costume. She can now be aligned with the vampires and minions of this world. Who made it all possible? Well naturally, it was none other than Kate Moss. Cara has already declared the supermodel as someone she aspires to, but who would have envisioned the impact this would have on the queen of modelling herself?

This weekend, Kate Moss decided to honor/mock/celebrate Cara by dressing up in head-to-toe Cara gear for Halloween (hoodie and tongue included). While a costume can have many functions, including but not limited to, seductive, scary, and shocking, this one was particularly striking due to the frequent comparisons drawn between the two. While Kate Moss was the sexy party girl of yesteryear, Cara is everyone's current muse with an infectious personality that makes everyone want to be her best friend (including Pharrell). The two models were recently featured in an ad together for Burberry because of everyone's obsession with pairing them together.

What do these two women have in common?
They're both British.
They're both party girls.
They're both blond.
They're both top models in the industry.
They're both Burberry girls.

Need I say more?

Now, let's contemplate the psychological motivations behind this costume choice for a moment.

Was it tasteful or tasteless?
Is Cara's transformation into a Halloween costume a signal of her status in the industry?
Is Kate's jest funny or slightly offensive?
Is Kate looking to regain the attention that's been diverted towards Cara?

OR can one view this costume choice as an older sister making fun of her younger sibling? If that is the case, let them be sisters for a night. Perhaps next year, Cara will be Kate. But in this case, it probably won't be Halloween.

Let's talk about the biggest icon the London scene brought into our lives: Kate Moss. It's a wonder she hasn't made this list until now. Anyone who thinks of London fashion immediately turns to Kate Moss. She's that girl everyone has heard of who conveys a glamorous lifestyle simply based on the way she dresses. Moss has walked every runway show imaginable from Burberry to Alexander McQueen. Discovered at the ripe age of 14, this girl was born to model. After jumpstarting her career with a Calvin Klein campaign in 1993, she's become unforgettable. She may have just turned 40, but her recent campaigns for Stuart Weitzman and Burberry fragrance with her successor Cara Delevingne proves she's still got it.

LOOK 1

Kate rocks this hat like no other Brit and I'm a sucker for a great hat. She wears head-to-toe black without looking too plain. If you know Kate Moss, you know that plain is never a word associated with this model. She may be wearing flats, but she always looks glamorous.

Kate Moss and Topshop: The Best of Great Britain

It's official, your favourite British model has collaborated with your favourite affordable British label. It's a big day for all British wannabes (myself included).

I invite you to scream like a little girl now.

For all those Canadians, at exactly 12pm today, the launch commenced (probably to a bunch of screaming girls like yourselves or perhaps you were there...). This is wonderful news for two major reasons:

1) Kate Moss is the coolest dresser you've ever seen.
2) There will be fringe.

An icon and one of the remaining original supermodels in the biz, we all love Kate Moss for her laissez faire attitude, signature shoulder length blond locks, and edgy sense of style. Apparently, they're starting to call us "Mossaholics" (if you don't know what this is, you can look up "Beliebers", "Gagarazzis" or "Smilers"). Bonus points for those who can guess which fan name belongs to who. But I digress.

This collection with its 70's style vibes will attract fans of the Moss mainly because they are fans of the Moss. As you may know from H&M collaborations, ladies everywhere will sit outside the store for hours awaiting that launch and rustle in like animals merely to grab whatever they can, pay for it, and try it on at home. They probably won't return it because it's a piece from Kate Moss's collection and they WILL make it fit. Do they have to love it? No! They just need to be cool enough to own it. Or perhaps owning it will make them cool. I leave that to you to figure out.
