I've always hated nail art. Read post, "Apparently Nail Art Is Dead. I Never Thought It Was Alive". It has always seemed to me like a kindergarten art project gone wrong, a way to get rid of your holiday decorations, an accident with the glitter, or just plain tacky.
The other day, something strange happened. I broke my two thumb nails. It was a horrendous experience I wish to never recreate, but alas, some things cannot be avoided. This predicament led to a slew of after-effects. For one, I decided that I had to cut my other nails to even them out (they were beyond nail file repair). Once that was done, I knew that certain colours would not work on my new short nails. The long and short of it is that I decided to paint one of my nails a different colour. Don't ask me how I arrived at this conclusion. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. I knew that my elegant long-nailed manicure was flushed down the toilet and that I needed a refresher to make my hands feel alive again.
I decided to paint my accent nail in flashy metallic silver. Though I've never been a fan of metallic nails, the New Year inspired me to try something new. After painting that single nail silver, I opted for a dark grey mani to compliment the nail. Unsatisfied with the results, I started to draw all over my nails with silver nail polish like a child left alone with a box of crayons and something magical happened. It looked a little bit like this:
Dare I say it? I may have actually tried nail art. Intentionally and partially, unintentionally.
I can't say that I'm fully committed to this trend nor can I confirm that I absolutely love it. However, I may experiment with a Pinterest tutorial or two. We'll call it my New Years resolution.
Have a great weekend lovelies!
And ponder this...

How Fashion Girls Celebrate Valentine's Day
As we all know, Valentine's Day is the day we celebrate love. It is no longer a day reserved for couples alone, but rather, one in which we can send cards to family and friends to tell them how much we care. It's also a day to spoil ourselves, because loving yourself is the keynote to true happiness. Duh. Now that we've gone through all the cliches that allow us to acknowledge and perhaps "enjoy" Valentine's Day, let's go through a list of ways that fashion girls choose to celebrate this holiday. Ready? Here's my top five.
NUMBER 1
NUMBER 5
V-Day Inspired Nail Art
On this special week in February, Pinterest is flooded with Valentine's Day manicures to brighten up your day. Whether you have a man or not, this is just another opportunity to get your nails done. Rather than going for the basic red or pink, try some crazy nail art and get creative this year. It's the simplest way to enjoy the day without the flowers.

NUMBER 4
New Lingerie
Let's get one thing straight. A woman must ALWAYS feel sexy whether there is a man in her life or not. Hence, the excuse to buy sexy lingerie for Valentine's Day. After all, you never know when you'll need it.

Red Shoes
If you've always wanted that pair of statement shoes, now is your chance. Since V-Day falls on the weekend, what better way to showcase a pair of bold red stilettos than on the streets during Valentine's Day?

NUMBER 2
Red Lipstick
If you're not usually inclined to wear a red lip, this is your chance to try it out. If you have nobody to kiss on V-Day, this is the perfect time to sport this bold lip color that women love and men hate to kiss.

NUMBER 1
Heart-Shaped Jewellery
In this day and age, who needs a man to buy you jewellery? Any true fashion girl can buy her own sleek silvery heart on a chain and this is the perfect excuse to justify this type of purchase, wouldn't you agree?
